    Properties

Nature is the healer of all disease. Hippocrates

Nature has provided us with a powerful array of plants which, if properly used, can be the answer to many health problems.
It is a well known fact that the active substances of plants and herbs have been the basis for medical treatments.
Even when they are not actually used, the chemical compounds are copied in order to be reproduced in the laboratories.
The healing properties of plants can be traced back in ancient times and all ancient civilizations used herbs to treat and cure various diseases. Even today, if properly used, they can alleviate people suffering from a number of diseases.
    USE
Medicinal herbs should be consumed with caution and after consulting your physician, mostly for patients who take medication or have serious health problems, as well as women who are pregnant or who are breast-feeding, and of course, children and teenagers.
The use of medicinal herbs is not a panacea, and does not resolve all our problems nor should they be consumed uncontrollably, expecting to cure all diseases.
Anything natural is not necessarily totally safe. Therefore, the medicinal plants and herbs should be used in a sensible way, always following advice from the experts who know very well.

     Dosage

It is very difficult to define the quantities that can or should be consumed with precision. The right dosage depends on a number of factors, such as age, body building, the disease of the person who is consuming them, as well any other medication he /she might be taking or any other health problem he/she might be facing.
On the other hand, we should bear in mind that not all herbs, irrespective of their origin, act in the same way, since this varies depending on factors such as methods of farming, harvesting, drying, storage etc.
    Herbalism (herbal medicine)
Herbalism (herbal medicine) has been used since ancient times to treat chronic diseases. Such traditional medicine is still widely practised today, since 1 out of 3 pharmaceutical drugs is produced from plant processing. Herbs have many advantages:
    • most of them are relatively non-toxic for the human organism and therefore, may be very safe
    • they can help restore the balance of various organs and systems, which was lost due to a disease
    • they can increase resistance against foreign“intrusions”
•they act in a less specific way- therefore have a wider range – compared to conventional medicines.
